Anna Lipkind-Mazor | Violin
With her natural charisma and deeply expressive playing, Israeli violinist Anna Lipkind-Mazor captivates her audience from the very first note. Her artistry goes far beyond technical brilliance - she knows how to transform music into a captivating narrative and give every phrase emotional depth and magnetic presence.
Deeply rooted in the great Russian string tradition, Anna Lipkind-Mazor carries on the legacy of David Oistrakh, Mikhail Garlicki, Sinaida Gilels and the original Borodin Quartet, while developing an artistic identity all her own. Her training has been shaped by masterclasses and influences from numerous renowned musicians, including Zakhar Bron, Boris Kuschnir, Salvatore Accardo, Victor Danchenko, Ida Haendel, Shlomo Mintz, Miriam Fried, Thomas Brandis, Petru Munteanu, Itzhak Perlman, Ivry Gitlis, Tsugio Tokunaga and György Pauk.
A child prodigy, Anna made her solo debut at the age of six, followed by performances with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Chisinau Symphony Orchestra and the Sinfonietta Baden. At the age of 16, she appeared as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta - a milestone that marked the beginning of her international career. She studied with Pavel Vernikov at the Vienna Conservatory and with Josef Rissin at the Karlsruhe University of Music and was honoured with prizes at four international competitions.
She has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the KKL Luzern, Flagey in Brussels, Sakura Hall in Tokyo, the Sendesaal des Hessischen Rundfunks in Frankfurt and the Duna Palota in Budapest. She has performed at major festivals such as the Oleg Kagan Festival in Kreuth, the Miyazaki Festival in Japan, the Gaia Festival in Switzerland, the Viana Festival in Portugal, the Portogruaro Festival in Italy, the Brandenburg Summer Concerts and the Eilat Chamber Music Festival.
As a sought-after chamber musician, Anna has performed with artists such as Peter Donohoe, Pavel Gililov, Ivry Gitlis, Julian Rachlin, Natalia Gutman, Pinchas Zukerman and Patricia Kopatchinskaja, to name but a few. She was a long-standing member of the internationally acclaimed Lipkind Quartet and co-organiser of the successful ‘Lipkind Plays...’ series. Today she is a permanent member of the Amsterdam Piano Trio.
In addition to her concert activities, Anna is also a visionary leader in the classical music scene. She is the founder of the Amsterdam Concert Series and artistic director of ConcertLab B.V., founded by her husband, the outstanding cellist Gavriel Lipkind.
Anna's artistic journey is characterised not only by musical excellence, but also by extraordinary resilience. In recent years, she has faced an almost unimaginable challenge - fighting for the life of her young son, who was diagnosed with cancer. During this time, she became a symbol of strength and perseverance and inspired a wave of solidarity from the international music community. With her return to extensive concertising, her playing is now imbued with even greater depth, emotional richness and authenticity.
With upcoming engagements, including the world premiere of a triple concerto at the Berlin Philharmonie and a recital at the Konzerthaus Berlin in April 2025, she reaffirms her place on the international stage - milestones that mark a new chapter in her artistic journey, enriched by profound experiences and unwavering resilience.
