Dmitry Prokofiev | Cello
As a prizewinner of the 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition and the 4th International Antonio Djanigro Competition, Dmitry Prokofiev began his musical career as a cellist in orchestras and chamber ensembles. He performed with the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Spivakov and his Soloists Quintet and also took on the role of first cellist with the Montenegro Symphony Orchestra and the prestigious Moscow New Opera Theater.
Dmitry Prokofiev has performed on the most prestigious stages in Russia and Europe, collaborating with conductors such as Dmitry Lyss, Milan Horvat and Ariel Zuckermann, among others. He is also a regular guest at international music festivals, where the legendary opera singer Jessye Norman, the world-famous violinist Vladimir Spivakov and the esteemed cellist Natalia Gutman have been among his stage partners. Since 2023 he has been a member of the Amsterdam Piano Trio.
Dmitry Prokofiev is known for his great interest and dedication in searching and developing a new cello and chamber music repertoire. The artist's discography includes works by Debussy, Brahms, Schumann and Paganini. His recordings have received high praise from international music critics.
