"MoldoDuo"- Ștefan Diaconu and Radu Ratoi

MoldoDuo is a fresh ensemble which aims to surprise and provoke audiences. Their name reflects musician’s origins, both of them coming from different sides of Moldova. But their cultural background, language and music are the same and the mission of MoldoDuo is to make people aware, among other, of the unity and collaboration.

Both are internationally acclaimed soloists, with a very fast developing career so they decided to join their musical forces and create a new ensemble which brings to the public a very rare combination of Flute and Accordion. Radu was winning all important accordion competitions during last 5 years. Ștefan is a very flexible musician, being able to play on many different instruments. His passion for music pushed him to enlarge the artistic horizons and he is conductor, arranger and orchestrator as well as score engraver.

The repertoire of MoldoDuo is an interesting combination between the very few works originally written for this ensemble and many other pieces they arrange themselves. In their musical arrangements they use multiple instruments, improvisation and many different playing techniques to bring out the essence of the music according to its stylistic requirements. They are also very preoccupied by premiering new music.
