Heidrun Holtmann studied under Renate Kretschmar-Fischer at the Music Academy Detmold and won first place at Concours Géza Anda in Zürich. Events such as playing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London under Antal Doráti, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with Iván Fischer and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich with David Zinman led to her success on international stages.

Holtmann performed at countless international festivals including those in Salzburg, Paris, Barcelona, Brescia / Bergamo, Stresa, Lucern, Berlin, at the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Ruhr Piano Festival, MDR-Music Summer, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, in Lockenhaus and Kuhmo. Her tours have led her through most of the European countries, to Asia, the United States, Canada and South America. International broadcasting and television networks work with her frequently.
